The San Juan del Sur area, with numerous diverse beaches along the Pacific Ocean, has every option for your relaxation. Whether you love the beach for swimming, or surfing, you'll find the right beach nearby. Just want to walk/run along the beach? The main Playa in town, is a 5 minute walk from Casa Esperanza SJDS, and its a short 15 minute walk along the beach to get to the action in town. A few of the more popular beaches, but by no means an exhaustive list:
- Playa San Juan del Sur is the main beach in the town itself. This is where the port is located, boats dock, and ocean front bars and restaurants along this beach. You will undoubtedly walk along this beach during your stay.
- Playa Maderas, a short drive north of San Juan del Sur, is a very popular surfing beach; also a great location for some unique photography - the entire coast is ripe with opportunity for great photography and selfies!
- Playa Hermosa, a short drive south of San Juan del Sur, which hosted several seasons of Survivor - San Jan del Sur, is another popular beach which is a great swimming/relaxation beach, but also can offer some surfing opportunities.
Shopping? Dining? Night Life? It's all in town, and the night life goes late. Enjoy the quiet location of Casa Esperanza SJDS after your late night, without the disturbances coming from the bars in town!
Do you prefer to relax on the patio? We've got a great patio with BBQ and hammock, with a view of the Cristo de la Misericordia statue, which is a manageable walk from the Casa and provides a breathtaking view of the Playa San Jun del Sur and the town itself! The patio is large enough to seat 6 guests comfortably, and upstairs is a smaller balcony with two glider /rocker chairs...accessible from both bedrooms.
As you spend time in Nicaragua, look around and take in the culture around you. The Nicaraguan people are lovely people, and if you engage with them, they will smile and always be cheerful in response. If you are lucky, you might be in town during a local festival and/or parade. They are great experiences, and the pic shown is from a nighttime parade in San Juan del Sur during a popular festival!

Your Casa in San Juan del Sur
Enjoy our townhouse style condominium vacation rental in a small complex of 5 units. Our two storey vacation home has two bedrooms, two full bathrooms, and a two piece bathroom on the main floor. Our kitchen is fully stocked utensils and includes a full stove/oven, refrigerator/freezer as well as microwave, coffee maker, toaster and blender. The kitchen has a two stool counter between it and a full dining room, as well as open concept views into the living area. The living area contains flat screen TV with Netflix, bluetooth speaker set and wifi/internet is also provided for you.
On the main floor our newly renovated patio, with views of the surrounding hills has now been outfitted with ceiling to floor solar shades that block 95% of the sunlight during the hot summer afternoon. A comfortable patio set has also recently been added to the patio, and we also have a propane BBQ for your use. On the second floor, both bedrooms have access to a balcony with two rocker/glider patio chairs with ottomans; providing views towards the main beach and town.
Outside, just in front of the patio, step down the stairs to the shared plunge pool to cool off on those extra hot days! In addition to taking a plunge, the unit also has ceiling fans in both bedrooms, and also in the living and dining rooms. Wall air conditioner units are available in both bedrooms, as well as one large unit for the first floor.
Note - Air Conditioning Usage
Please note due to the very high cost of electricity in Nicaragua, we include an allowance of 25 kw/H per day of electricity. Any excess will be charged to you at the rate of US$0.50 per kw/H. This can be easily managed by only using the air conditioning units in the bedrooms when you are actually in a bedroom sleeping, and if you only turn on the downstairs unit when you are home and not upstairs sleeping. In 5 years of renting, we have rarely had guests go over the allowance.
